Our Mission

To provide a safe space and community for individuals, ages 6-18, to express
the challenges of having a sibling struggling with mental health

The main goal of Sib4Sib is to provide a safe space for siblings to express their emotions and be around other people who understand what they are living with every day. In addition to providing an outlet and support system, Sib4Sib helps siblings to develop skills for dealing with their built up emotions and strategies for dealing with the everyday challenges of living with a sibling with mental health concerns. The central goal of the organization is to show siblings that they are not alone with their feelings and experiences. Siblings are just as affected by the needs of the sibling who is struggling as the rest of the family. Unlike the rest of the family, the siblings do not have an avenue to express frustration, anger, and resentment that develop in their daily life. Sib4Sib addresses this need by creating a safe space for siblings to share their frustrations and learn coping strategies in a support group setting facilitated by a licensed mental health professional. In addition to support groups, Sib4Sib provides resources, advocacy, networking, and social outings. All programs are free of charge.

Is my child right for Sib4Sib?

What exactly does it mean to struggle with mental health? We loosely define the phrase on purpose: Any impairment which causes an imbalance of attention between siblings from parents. ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, Depression Mood Disorders, Sensory Disorders, Behavioral Disorders, and so many more can fit into this category. If you have any questions regarding Sib4Sib's suitability for your child, please contact us! We're happy to answer any questions.
